Strike notice in Swedish ports starting May 21

Dear Customer,

We want to inform you of upcoming strike actions announced by the Swedish Dockworkers’ Union (HF) and the Swedish Transport Workers’ Union (Transport), which may impact shipments in the coming weeks.

What’s happening?

  • HF: A full port strike is planned for Wednesday, May 21, from 12:00 to 18:00 in all Swedish ports.

  • Followed by additional actions from Thursday, May 22 at 09:00 until Monday, May 26 at 22:30, including strike, overtime ban, and hiring freeze – primarily affecting the Gothenburg RoRo terminal.

  • Transport: Has announced a blockade on overtime and new hires from Wednesday, May 21 at 16:00. Additional port-specific strikes are planned in stages from May 30 to June 15.

How will it affect you?

We anticipate disruptions primarily in unaccompanied trailer traffic to/from Gothenburg, affecting shipments to/from:

  • Germany, the UK, Ireland

  • Belgium, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal

We’ll assess each case individually and stay in close contact with you to find the best solutions. Re-routing and extra costs may apply if capacity becomes limited.
